The 3rd Ahl al-Bayt Symposium
Commemorating the 1500th Anniversary of the Birth of the Prophet (pbuh), the Mercy to the Worlds:
The 3rd Ahl al-Bayt Symposium
ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION IN THE LIGHT OF THE PROPHETIC LEGACY
CALL
According to the Hijri calendar, humanity is observing approximately the fifteen hundredth anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This significant milestone is not only a historical commemoration but also a call to reconsider the universal message of prophethood in the face of the profound crises of our time. Today, despite being at the peak of technological progress, humanity is in the midst of a moral, ecological, and spiritual crisis. In such a period, the legacy of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), centered on mercy, justice, wisdom, and humility, awaits not only remembrance but also revival.
Islamic civilization is a moral civilization shaped by the light of prophethood. Revelation is not merely a call to individual guidance; it is a vision of a social order based on morality, built upon justice, mercy, knowledge, and wisdom. In this respect, prophethood has been a fundamental source of inspiration in the renewal of civilizations throughout history, serving a function that gives meaning to human existence on earth. However, the secular and materialistic worldview of the modern age has severed itself from this divine inspiration, reducing humanity to merely a consuming and producing being. This severance lies at the root of the social injustices and spiritual voids we face today.
This symposium aims to shed light on both the internal crises of the Muslim world and the common problems of humanity from a prophetic perspective. The goal is to consider prophethood not only as a theological concept but also as a guide for moral renewal, scientific integrity, and civilization building in the contemporary world. The Prophet's (pbuh) example offers a holistic worldview that unites knowledge and wisdom, faith and morality, individual reflection and social responsibility. In this respect, the symposium aims to lay the groundwork for the revival of prophetic wisdom in the modern world.
This symposium aims to encourage renewed reflection on scientific, cultural, and moral levels, to draw lessons for our time, and to recall the vision of a prophetic civilization that makes human existence meaningful on earth, balancing justice with mercy, knowledge with wisdom, and power with compassion.
Themes to be addressed at the symposium include the civilization-building role of revelation, prophetic morality and social justice, the universal dimension of prophethood, prophetic guidance in the face of modern crises, the balance of faith, action, and wisdom in the reconstruction of civilization, prophethood and Sufism, and the Ahl al-Bayt.
We invite academics, thinkers, theologians, and young researchers to discuss both the classical Islamic heritage and contemporary problem areas together within this framework.
